The Houston Multicultural Center (HMC) is proud to offer a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Training Program aimed at empowering refugees and underserved communities with in-demand career skills. This initiative is part of our commitment to advancing economic mobility and community integration for those we serve.

Through this program, participants will receive comprehensive training to earn their CDL certification, opening the door to high-paying job opportunities in the transportation industry. With Texas serving as a hub for freight movement and e-commerce growth, the demand for qualified truck drivers continues to rise, offering competitive wages, benefits, and career advancement pathways.

Through a three-phase approach, the DE program equips participants with the skills and knowledge necessary to obtain their driver’s licenses, paving the way to self-sufficiency and independence. Our comprehensive services include eligibility assessment, classroom instruction, and behind-the-wheel training, tailored to meet the unique needs of each participant.

By offering culturally and linguistically appropriate support—including interpretation, transportation assistance, and individualized service plans—HMC ensures that participants can overcome challenges and achieve success. Our DE program complements existing employment services, enhancing clients’ progress toward social integration and financial stability.

Since its establishment in 2024, HMC has supported over 500 refugees from diverse backgrounds, providing essential services such as case management, job placement, and cultural orientation. Our dedicated team, many of whom are former refugees themselves, leverages their expertise to create impactful programs that empower newcomers to thrive in Houston.
